Bowland IT’s directors Oliver Alcock and Jenna Healey are currently expecting their first child, and during the process they visited a local Ultrasound Clinic to have a 4D scan. Since their visit, they noticed that the Lancashire Evening Telegraph had wrote a story on them due to their shocking recent ‘Needs Improvement’ score with the CQC. The main reason behind them needing improvement according to the CQC was because their GDPR, Data Protection and IT Policies were not in order for their visit.

Padiham’s Instascan 4D Baby owners, Richard and Vicki offered Oliver and Jenna with the best scanning experience throughout their entire pregnancy so far, and it was a shock to see that the CQC would mark them down so severely due to paperwork issues.

Oliver says: I reached out to Richard and Vicki following the news regarding the poor score, to see if we could help from an IT point of view. It was clear not only from the visit, but from the communication regarding this news article that the couple have put their heart and soul into this small company and have visions to grow it to multiple sites. I explained to them not to let this score knock them back, and I offered to help support them with their IT and GDPR paperwork.

Within the healthcare industry there is now a massive focus on safeguarding which all practices regulated by the CQC should take part in to improve their score. It is important to ask the right questions, collect the right data and implement secure systems that deals with the data correctly. Sadly there isn’t a massive amount of guidance out there to support small healthcare practices such as Instascan 4D Baby, giving no choice but to receive a low score when the information isn’t there to help improve the scoring beforehand.

Looking throughout the reviews on Facebook and Google, hundreds of visitors had all left them a 5 star review with very positive comments from everybody.

Bowland IT are now setting up a brand new booking system for this business along with helping Richard and Vicki with info on how to safely store data and collect data in line with the CQC’s requirements,
